Trappers Trail is a two-stage sled dog race covering 70 km and 140 km (according to the racing category) with one overnight at Kapp Laila. It takes place mid-April on Svalbard since 2009. The race starts and ends in Longyearbyen after crossing several valleys and a glacier.

The toughest part of Trappers Trail is the long steep climb of Fardalen up to Longyearbyen Passet (640m) at the end of the race. Dogs and mushers are rather challenged during the climb.

Participants can team up and drive the same team (together or separately). All participants race on the same trail. However they can enter one of the following categories:

Ski & Pulk – 1 to 3 dogs, 70 km

Small dog team – 3 to 5 dogs, 70 km

Big dog team – 6 to 8 dogs, 70 km

Open class – 6 to 10 dogs, 140 km
