Dog sledding

Today's Northern Lights trip takes you to the Arctic wilderness of the Tamok valley; due to its geographical, inland location the climate is drier and colder than in Tromso, thus offering a maximum opportunity of experiencing the amazing Northern Lights. An adventurous dog sledding trip is waiting for you!

Includes: Transfers, dog sledding, a traditional, hot meal in a Sami tent, insulated body suit, warm shoes, gloves, headwear & head lamp.

Day 3 optional Wilderness camp stay & Snow mobile safari:

Instead of going back to the hotel in Tromso after the Dog sledding trip you spend the night at an exotic Wilderness camp, a perfect location for viewing the Northern Lights.

The next morning you join an adventurous Snow mobile trip before the transfer back to the hotel in Tromso, before the evening trip of Day 4.
You can add this option during the tour booking process (the wilderness camp stay replaces the hotel on Day 3. Breakfast is included.)

Day 4 - Aurora Safari

Time to explore the city, before you will be picked up in the centre of Tromso for a Northern lights chase by bus. Five base stations are set up at different locations, and the best one for the evening is chosen, depending on the weather reports. Each base has its own local English speaking guide, a warm shelter and camp fire. Northern lights film shown on the bus.

The Northern Lights:

The Northern Lights - nature's own light show - are solar winds that meet the atmosphere in a zone around the magnetic North Pole, forming arches, waves and curls of light moving across the sky, with sudden rays of light shooting down from space.

The Northern Lights are visible between November and March when the sky is clear, depending on the Northern Lights activity.

The Arctic city of Tromso offers a maximum of Northern Lights activity, ideally located in the middle of the Northern Lights zone
